President, VIMN UK, Northern and Eastern Europe
James Currell is President of Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) in the UK, Northern and Eastern Europe.
In his role, James has full management oversight of all Viacom’s media networks and related businesses in 36 European countries, including the UK, Nordics, CEE, Russia and CIS regions.
James oversees Viacom’s portfolio of brands, which includes Channel 5, MTV, Comedy Central and Nickelodeon and is responsible for centralised business functions, such as commercial distribution, production, business and legal affairs, finance and human resources. James reports into David Lynn, President and CEO of VIMN.
Prior to his existing role, James was Senior Vice President, Chief Operating Officer, for VIMN in the UK, Northern and Eastern Europe and was instrumental in the growth of the largest and most profitable of Viacom’s pan-regional management centres outside of the US. He also had a lead role in planning and executing Viacom’s acquisition of Channel 5 in September 2014.
Previously, as Chief Financial Officer, James was responsible for VIMN’s two International Media Centres in London and Amsterdam, which service the play-out of all Viacom channels in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
James first joined Viacom in 2001, as Financial Controller of Paramount Pictures, based in Los Angeles, before moving to New York in 2006 to take up the position of Financial Controller for MTV Networks International (now VIMN). Prior to joining Viacom, James was Senior Audit Manager for PricewaterhouseCoopers’ media & entertainment practice in Los Angeles.
James holds a BSc Computer Science and Management and lives in South West London with his family.
