Rachael Craufurd Smith is a reader at the School of Law, University of Edinburgh. She qualified as a solicitor in 1986 before completing a doctorate on the media and fundamental rights at the European University Institute in Florence.
Prior to moving to Edinburgh, Rachael worked as a senior policy adviser (European Affairs) at the BBC and held fellowships at Trinity and Corpus Christi Colleges, Oxford. Rachael is a founding editor of the Journal of Media Law and has written widely on media matters, with a particular interest in media self-regulation, media ownership and plurality.
