shadow minister for culture and the digital economy
Chris’s career has spanned the media, church and politics. After working as a curate in High Wycombe he left the Church in 1991 to work for the Labour Party. He has also worked as Head of European Affairs at the BBC and is a published author.
In 2009 Chris was made Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State, Minister for Europe in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office. In 2010 Chris was made shadow Justice Minister, with responsibility for political and constitutional reform. He was then appointed as shadow Home Office Minister with responsibility for immigration, followed by a period as Shadow DWP Minister. In 2014 he was appointed to his current role as Shadow Minister for Culture, Media and Sport.
