Afua Hirsch is the Social Affairs and Education Editor for Sky News, reporting on issues ranging from immigration and race to radicalisation, income inequality and social policy. She specialises in exclusive and original stories, including weapons in schools, the root causes of radicalisation and treatment of transgender children. She has previously been the Guardian newspaper’s West Africa correspondent, based in Accra Ghana, and legal correspondent in London. Afua came to journalism from the legal profession where she practised as a barrister, working in criminal defence, immigration, housing and other areas of human rights law. As a young journalist, she wrote and reported for The Voice newspaper, covering issues affecting young black people. She speaks and writes widely on issues of race and diversity, social mobility and justice.
