Dr Orla Lynskey is an Assistant Professor of Law at the London School of Economics. Her primary area of research interest is technology regulation, and in particular data protection law. She completed her doctoral research on the normative foundations of European data protection law at the University of Cambridge in 2012. This work will be published as a monograph by Oxford University Press in 2015. Prior to her doctoral studies, Orla spent a number of years working in Brussels as a contract agent for the European Commission Competition Directorate and as an attorney for the Antitrust and Competition division of a US law firm. Orla also worked for two years as an academic assistant at the College of Europe, Bruges. During this time, she was called to the Bar of England and Wales.
