Krishnan Guru-Murthy

Main Anchor, Channel 4 News

Krishnan Guru-Murthy is the main anchor of Channel 4 News, hosts Channel 4’s major political debates during elections, referenda and major events and also interviews writers, thinkers, artists and politicians at length for the Channel 4 News podcast ‘Ways to Change the World’.

Krishnan also presents the foreign affairs series Unreported World, produced by Channel 4 News, and has made documentaries all over the world from Yemen, Afghanistan and Iraq to Mexico, South Africa, Myanmar and India. He commentates on major live events for Channel 4 such as the Paralympics Ceremonies, and presents live controversial programmes outside the news including the first live televised “Autopsy”, “The Exorcism” and “How Racist Are you?”.

Krishnan spends much of his time working on British politics, having interviewed every Prime Minister and Opposition leader since joining Channel 4 News in 1998 and covered every election. He has reported and presented from major events all over the world including the 9/11 attacks, the Mumbai attacks, the wars in Ukraine, Syria, Yemen and Gaza, the Arab Spring in Egypt, American, EU and Indian politics and numerous natural disasters.

His TV career began at the age of eighteen presenting youth television for the BBC. He went on to present, report and produce a variety of programmes from Newsround to Newsnight before joining Channel 4. He has also presented radio shows for LBC and the BBC.
