Charmaine Burton is a social entrepreneur, communications specialist, political broadcaster and a former Committee on Standards lay member.
She has been active in the community of Birmingham for many years and has a passion for community political awareness and engagement. She believe it is important that politicians and influencers are accessible, and that they hear and understand the voice of the citizens they represent in Birmingham and the wider West Midlands.
Charmaine is the executive producer and presenter of her own political, social, economic and cultural radio show called Different Anglez on a community radio station. Her guests come from a wide range of sectors including representatives from the voluntary and community sector, local and national politics, health and business. She has also worked with the BBC WM, mainly on the Sunday Politics West Midlands show.
She has worked with West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioners Office, Birmingham South Central Clinical Commissioning group, Aston University, and Mayfield School for Young people with disabilities. Charmaine engages with a range of community, public and private sector organisations creating a dialogue that she shares with her audience. Charmaine has a degree in BSc Society and Government from Aston University and has trained as a Parliamentary Outreach Programme Facilitator and a mediator and mentor.
